Thanksgiving Program
November
Each year Families Forward holds a Thanksgiving-themed grocery distribution for local families. The Saturday before Thanksgiving Day, our parking lot is magically turned into a fun zone, where families of our donors, clients, and staff celebrate the upcoming holidays and community spirit. A local Fire Department, childcare centers, and vendors team up to provide unforgettable activities for children and parents.

Last year we provided over 700 families with groceries and items that they needed to make a delicious home-cooked Thanksgiving meal to share with their loved ones. Please help us surpass this number by donating gift cards from grocery stores, food items, or by organizing a food drive at your school or organization. For more information, please click here.



Adopt a Family
December
Holidays can be a very stressful time for families who struggle to make ends meet. Imagine passing by all the new shiny toys, your child's eyes aglow, realizing that you can't afford to give them a special holiday gift. The Adopt-a-Family Program gives individuals, companies and community organizations the opportunity to spread warmth and bring holiday joy to families in need. Timberwolf 5K Run/Walk
February 20, 2010
On Saturday, February 20, 2010, the Northwood Athletic Boosters is hosting its Inaugural Timberwolf 5K Run/Walk. This exciting event features a USATF-certified course which includes a challenging hill, breathtaking views, and a fast downhill finish. As part of their commitment to the community, Northwood Athletic Boosters will be sharing a portion of the event's proceeds with Families Forward, helping families in need regain self-sufficiency. The event is open to a variety of groups, and walkers and casual participants are encouraged to join the fun! All participants will receive a commemorative event t-shirt. Board and Friends Dinner
June 6 2010, 5 - 7 PM

Over 60 friends and members of our Board of Directors attended our Families Forward Board and Friends Event at Shady Canyon Golf Club on June 6th. The weather was perfect, the company was more than enjoyable and we were able to raise over $3,000 for the programs and services that we provide to the community. Thanks to everyone that attended!

Community Resource Fair
May 8, 2010

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported our 2nd annual Community Resource Fair on Saturday, May 8th at Irvine Valley College. The fair brought together 56 agencies to serve over 760 attendees with free services offered on-site, including health screenings, legal advice, financial and housing consultations, workshops, activities for children and more! A special thank you to our sponsors The Allergan Foundation, Ralphs, Wells Fargo, The Gas Company and Hoag Hospital for supporting our event. Additionally, we would like to say thank you to Taco Bell for providing free tacos and burritos to fair attendees!

End Summer Hunger Food Drive
May 1 & 2, 2010

The End Summer Hunger community food drive held on May 1st and 2nd was a HUGE SUCCESS! In total, over 113 giant barrels were filled (approximately 22,600 pounds of food and donations) and over $1,400.00 was collected in cash and gift cards!!

A most heartfelt thank you to all who were involved:
* The 20 stores involved on Saturday and 14 stores involved on Sunday for serving as home base for collections!
* Our faith-based and community partners for organizing groups of volunteers and supporting the drive!
* The 265 volunteers who put in a total of 607 hours over two days soliciting donations at participating stores!
* The 82 volunteers who put in a total of 247 hours over two days inventorying and shelving food at our warehouse!
* All of the community members who so generously gave to the food drive!

These donations go a long way to ensure that our food pantry is stocked and that hundreds of families will receive needed food throughout the summer months.
